Two-wheel Alignment, Four-Wheel Alignment
Vehicle alignment is essential for your vehicle. Having your car properly aligned means that your tires are adjusted to the best angles for them to come into contact with the road. Proper wheel alignment, in short, helps to not only keep your car running safely, but it also helps to preserve your tires and keep them in good condition longer. First, wheel alignment is not to be confused with tire balancing, as it so often is. What’s the difference? Really quickly, wheel alignment has to deal with making sure your wheels are aligned on your car and align with your suspension. Tire balancing makes sure the weight of your car is evenly distributed on all your tires.
Signs Your Tires Need Alignment
- You notice your tires have uneven wear on the tread
- The car often pulls one way or the other when driving straight
- Your steering wheel no longer sits straight and center
- Is your steering wheel vibrating?
If you notice any of these signs, there is likely an issue with your tire alignment, and you may require service. Taking care of this issue as soon as you start noticing signs and symptoms can help mitigate further damage being done to your car that can really add up.
Four-Wheel Alignment vs. Two-Wheel Alignment
Four-wheel alignment has to deal with aligning all four tires at once. This is more common in smaller vehicles where any issue is likely to affect the entire car faster. And on larger cars, the rear axle is usually a lot more solid, too. When it comes to two-wheel alignment, we are just talking about aligning the front wheels. This is more common on larger cars and SUVs. This is one of the services we do not recommend doing as a DIY at-home project. Your wheel alignment is very important and needs specific tools and technology that only technicians at certified car service centers possess.
